Eva Luna 2.0
One of my favorite-ever projects was creating a song cycle from excerpts of Isabel Allende's novel Eva Luna for a theatrical adaptation at UC Berkeley. Ever since then, I have wanted to create more music for that ensemble: female voice, guitar, cello, percussion, and a fifth "special sauce" kind of instrument (in the case of Eva Luna, the charango, a South American mandolin-like instrument).
In 2017, I am moving forward with this vision, starting with arrangements of my Love or a Season choral works (see below). The more I worked on these pieces, the more I heard them for solo voice and instruments (though I still love the choral versions). I'm in the process of creating demos in my home studio, and am already using these to recruit a crack team of musicians. From there I hope to schedule some concerts, perhaps using a Kickstarter campaign to pre-sell tickets and guarantee income for the musicians.
UPDATE: I've now completed the first demo, A Dream Pang, featuring vocalist Adrienne Shamszad!
